Ojinaga women complete piñata-making course, receive official certificates

Women in Ojinaga have completed a piñata-making course designed to help participants develop practical skills, start small businesses and generate additional income for their families.

Ojinaga Mayor Lucy Marrufo attended the course’s closing ceremony at CEDEFAM, a local family development center, where participants received certificates recognizing their training.

The program was organized through a partnership between the Ojinaga Women’s Institute and the Chihuahua State Institute for Job Training, known as ICATECH.

During the course, participants learned techniques for making piñatas while developing skills intended to support entrepreneurship and other income-generating opportunities.

Graduates received certificates with official recognition from Mexico’s Ministry of Public Education through the National Education System.

Municipal officials said the initiative is part of a broader effort to expand vocational training opportunities for women in Ojinaga, strengthen their economic independence and provide additional resources for their households.

Ojinaga is located directly across the Rio Grande from Presidio, Texas.
