Drag racing enthusiasts will have an opportunity to compete or watch the action Saturday, Dec. 12, as a bracket racing event brings drivers and spectators to the drag strip in Presidio.
The event, promoted as “Heads Up! Bracket Racing,” will feature competitors racing for position and bragging rights in an evening of motorsports.
Gates will open at 5 p.m., with racing scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
General admission for spectators is $10, while children younger than 10 will be admitted free.
Drivers wishing to compete will pay a $100 entry fee. A $40 buyback option will be available during the first and second rounds, allowing eliminated racers an opportunity to return to competition.
Bracket racing is a form of drag racing in which drivers predict their elapsed times before competing. The format emphasizes consistency and reaction times rather than simply rewarding the fastest vehicle, allowing cars with different performance capabilities to compete against one another.
Organizers are promoting the event with the slogan, “This is the strip — where legends are made.”
The event is scheduled for Dec. 12, with racing beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Presidio.
