The Marfa Shorthorns football team has been named a Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Team of the Week, Marfa Independent School District announced Thursday.
The statewide recognition, presented by Casey’s, honors the Shorthorns for their performance on the field and recognizes the work of the team’s players and coaches.
Marfa ISD celebrated the honor in a social media post, calling it a “TEAM accomplishment” and praising the athletes and coaches for their hard work, determination and school pride.
“What an incredible TEAM accomplishment and a well-deserved recognition of the hard work, determination, and Shorthorn pride our athletes and coaches bring to the field,” the district said.

The district congratulated the team and encouraged players to “keep working” and “keep believing,” closing its announcement with the school’s “Ride for the Brand” message.
