The Original Viva Terlingua Chili Cook-off will return to the Chihuahuan Desert in November for four days of chili competition, camping and live music.
The 59th annual Original Viva Terlingua International Frank X. Tolbert-Wick Fowler Memorial Championship Chili Cookoff is scheduled for Nov. 4-7 in Terlingua.
Organizers have announced 12 musical acts for the festival, including Alejandro Escovedo, Gary P. Nunn, Mark David Manders, Victor Treviño Jr., Thomas Michael Riley and The Droptines.
Kathryn Legendre, Billy King and the Bad Bad Bad, and Escovedo are scheduled to perform Wednesday, Nov. 4.
The Sentimental Family Band, Nunn and Los Pinche Gringos are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5. Keegan McInroe & Band, Manders and Treviño are set to perform Friday, Nov. 6.
The Tabasco Birds, Riley and The Droptines will close out the music schedule Saturday, Nov. 7.
A four-day pass costs $80 per person and includes a camping spot, according to organizers. Those arriving Thursday or Friday will pay the same price. Saturday-only admission costs $20.
The event allows participants to compete in the chili cook-off or attend as spectators while camping and enjoying live music near Terlingua, about 10 miles from Big Bend National Park.
