Oversized vehicle strike closes U.S. 90 at Alpine railroad underpass

U.S. Highway 90 at the railroad underpass in Alpine was closed Sunday after an oversized vehicle struck a warning barrier, according to the Alpine Police Department.

Police announced the closure Monday afternoon and urged motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes when possible.

The collision damaged the overhead warning barrier at the underpass. Crews were working to remove the damaged structure, police said.

The highway will remain closed at the underpass until the barrier can be safely removed and the area cleared.

Police did not immediately provide information about the vehicle involved, whether anyone was injured or how long the closure was expected to last.

The Alpine Police Department said it would provide an update once the roadway reopens.
