Volunteers joined staff from Davis Mountains State Park last weekend to clean a two-mile stretch of highway and spruce up the patio at Indian Lodge as part of the Texas Adopt-A-Highway program.
According to the park, volunteers collected litter along the park’s adopted section of roadway before helping improve outdoor areas at the historic Indian Lodge.
Photos shared by the park show volunteers equipped with safety vests, litter grabbers and “Don’t Mess With Texas” trash bags following the cleanup. Another image shows bags of collected trash stacked beneath the park’s Adopt-A-Highway sign recognizing Employees of Davis Mountains State Park Indian Lodge.
In a social media post, park officials thanked the volunteers for their efforts, saying, “Thanks volunteers for your help last Saturday. We cleaned our section of highway and spruced up the Indian Lodge patio.”
The park encouraged visitors to check its schedule of upcoming programs and events, noting that volunteer efforts help keep one of the Big Bend region’s most popular state parks clean and welcoming for visitors.
