Hotel Paisano has closed its guest rooms and canceled existing reservations as its new owners undertake extensive renovations to the historic Marfa property.
The owners, who acquired the hotel earlier this year, previously announced plans for Meseta, a new restaurant, along with major renovations to guest rooms and the hotel’s first-floor common areas.
Lauren Werner said the decision to close the hotel temporarily was made after construction began and it became clear that the property could not provide the desired guest experience while the restaurant and common areas were being renovated.
Although construction will continue in phases, the owners decided to begin renovating the hotel’s rooms this fall, earlier than initially planned. The current goal is to reopen the rooms by mid-February.
“While this approach requires a temporary closure of rooms, we believe it is the most responsible path for both our guests and the long-term preservation of the hotel,” Werner said.
She said the closure will allow construction crews to work more efficiently, help ensure better craftsmanship and avoid asking visitors to stay in an active construction site.
“Every decision we are making begins with two priorities: preserving the historic character of Hotel Paisano and creating an exceptional guest experience,” Werner said.
The newly renovated bar and kitchen are expected to open in early October with a full bar program and limited dinner menu. Hotel Paisano’s retail operation will remain open throughout the renovations and will continue serving residents and visitors.
