The Jeff Davis County Mountain Dispatch has not published a new digital edition since July 9, missing its regularly scheduled weekly publication on Thursday, July 16.
The newspaper, which recently ceased print operations and transitioned to a digital-only format, traditionally publishes a new edition each Thursday. As of Monday, July 20, the July 9 edition remained the most recent issue available on its website.
The publication has experienced delays and missed publication dates in the past, making this the latest instance in which readers have gone beyond the expected weekly schedule without a new edition.
The July 9 edition, Vol. 42, No. 25, included coverage of Fort Davis Independence Day festivities, Fort Davis ISD, local events and community news.
No public explanation for the missed July 16 publication or an anticipated publication date for the next edition had been posted as of Monday.
The Mountain Dispatch has served Jeff Davis County for more than four decades and remains one of the area’s longstanding local news outlets. It is unclear whether the current delay is temporary or related to broader operational changes following the end of its print edition.
