Marfa EMS Director Jessie Pefra told City Council the department frequently assists neighboring jurisdictions and often responds outside its primary service area.
Council members discussed the importance of documenting those mutual aid responses for future budget discussions and funding requests.
Pefra also said the department continues to operate with limited personnel and that he alternates seven-day shifts with another paramedic.
Pefra told council about a Texas Workforce Commission EMS staffing grant opportunity, with applications open through July 30. He said the grant would fund paramedic training and educational costs, though not travel or lodging.
