Marfa City Council approved final landscape architect plans for Coffield Park during its June 9 meeting.
Michael Camacho, Parks Board president, presented the final design and said it would serve as a long-term master plan and fundraising tool for future improvements. He said the overall park vision could total about $15 million, but individual projects would still require council approval.
Council discussed a planned two-way roadway between the Nutrition Center and playground, parking, Americans with Disabilities Act compliance and school bus access. Camacho said the design would add parking, improve accessibility and undergo review for ADA compliance.
Council Member Emily Kolb made the motion to approve the final plans. Council Member Raul Lara seconded the motion, which passed 5-0.
