Marfa ISD alumnus and former School Resource Officer Arturo Alferez III has graduated from the U.S. Border Patrol Academy, according to a post shared by the Marfa Shorthorns alumni page.
The announcement recognized Alferez’s completion of the federal law enforcement training program and wished him success as he begins his new career with the U.S. Border Patrol.
Alferez previously served as a school resource officer in Marfa and is a graduate of Marfa ISD. Community members and alumni celebrated the achievement online, highlighting his transition from serving local students to protecting the nation’s borders.
The Marfa Shorthorns page described the milestone as the start of a new chapter and congratulated Alferez on earning his Border Patrol credentials.
“Once a Shorthorn, always a Shorthorn,” the post stated.
The U.S. Border Patrol Academy provides extensive training for new agents, including coursework in immigration law, firearms proficiency, physical fitness, defensive tactics and border security operations.
Alferez now joins the ranks of Border Patrol agents serving along the nation’s borders following the completion of academy requirements.
