The municipal government of Ojinaga is inviting residents to gather Thursday for a free public watch party of Mexico’s opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup against South Africa.
The event is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at Teatro Olimpia in downtown Ojinaga, according to promotional materials released by the city government.
City officials said the community gathering will feature popcorn and family-friendly activities as residents watch the first match of the tournament together. The event is free to attend.
The promotional campaign, organized under the slogan “Ojinaga se pone la verde” — a reference to wearing Mexico’s national team colors — encourages families to come together in support of El Tri as Mexico begins its World Cup campaign.
The event is being coordinated by Ojinaga’s municipal government in partnership with its social development, sports and culture, and educational development departments.
