The Brewster County Sheriff’s Office has added a new deputy to its ranks, swearing in recent Sul Ross Academy graduate Devin Flores on Monday, according to the agency.

Sheriff Ronny Dodson administered the oath of office to Flores during a ceremony at the sheriff’s office, officially welcoming him as Brewster County’s newest deputy.

According to the sheriff’s office, Flores was born and raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and recently relocated to Alpine from Greenville, South Carolina, to pursue a career in law enforcement.

The sheriff’s office said Flores and his wife are also preparing to welcome a baby girl to their family in the coming months.

“Welcome to the BCSO family, Deputy Flores,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a social media announcement.

Flores is a recent graduate of Sul Ross Academy, a local educational program in Alpine. The sheriff’s office did not immediately provide additional details about his law enforcement training or assignment.
