Opponents of a proposed border wall in the Big Bend region are inviting community members to a gathering in Marfa this week aimed at supporting organizing efforts and launching new merchandise.
The No Big Bend Wall Coalition will host a merch release event Friday, June 5, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Larry’s, located at 303 E. El Paso St. in Marfa.
According to event organizers, proceeds and participation will support the coalition’s efforts opposing a border wall in the Big Bend region. The event will feature food, including hot dogs, and music by Denise Asag.
The coalition has been vocal in its opposition to border wall construction in the Big Bend area, citing concerns over environmental impacts, land access, cultural resources and the character of communities along the border.
Organizers say the event is intended to raise awareness, build community support and help fund continued advocacy efforts related to border wall opposition in the region.
