Odessa Man Arrested in Presidio on Firearm Charge Following Traffic Stop

A traffic stop by the Presidio Police Department early Monday morning led to the arrest of an Odessa man on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm, authorities said.

According to the Presidio Police Department, officers conducting the stop discovered two handguns and an AR-15-style rifle in the man’s possession. Police said the suspect was arrested on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm, a third-degree felony under Texas law.

The suspect was taken into custody following the investigation and transported for processing, police said. Authorities did not immediately release the individual’s name or additional details surrounding the circumstances of the stop.

The Presidio Police Department said the investigation involved assistance from the Presidio County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations.

“The arrest reflects the continued commitment of local, state, and federal law enforcement partners to ensuring public safety and enforcing the law throughout the region,” Presidio Police Chief Adan Covos Jr. said in a statement.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information has been released.
