The Marathon Public Library is partnering with the West Texas Food Bank to provide free weekly summer meal boxes for children in the Marathon area beginning June 10.
The program will distribute meals every Wednesday from June 10 through July 29 at the Marathon Public Library, located at 106 NE Third St. Pickup hours are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
According to the library, children in need will receive one five-day box of shelf-stable meals each week during the summer. Families may sign up at any point during the program, though organizers encourage registration by June 3 to help plan for participation levels.
If a child is not present at pickup, staff will verify that the meals are being collected for a child. Families must provide one form of identification, including a student ID card, report card, birth certificate or child care ID card.
The library said parents or legal guardians will also be asked to authorize who may pick up meals for participating children.
Families seeking additional summer meal locations can call 211 or visit SummerFood.org for more information. For questions or registration, residents may contact the Marathon Public Library at 432-386-4136 or by email at marathonpubliclibrary@gmail.com.
