Residents in Balmorhea will soon have access to an expanded recreational facility as the Reeves County Rec Center prepares to open its Balmorhea extension next month.
The Reeves County Rec Center announced a soft opening for “The Rec — Balmorhea Extension” on June 15, with doors scheduled to open at 8 a.m. at 211 S. El Paso St. in Balmorhea.
Officials said the opening celebration will include games, free merchandise and activities for members of all ages as the county marks the launch of the facility’s extension.
The recreation center is also seeking vendors and food trucks to participate in the opening event.
According to promotional materials, monthly memberships will cost $15 for adults ages 18 to 61 and $10 for youth ages 4 to 17 and seniors age 62 and older. Infants and toddlers younger than 4 years old will be admitted free, with additional fees and discounts available.
The facility’s posted hours of operation will be Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
County officials said the new extension marks an effort to expand recreational opportunities in Balmorhea and create additional programming space for residents of all ages.
