A male suspect was taken into custody Monday evening after allegedly threatening a victim with a firearm at the Holiday Inn Express in Alpine, according to the Alpine Police Department.
Police said officers responded to the hotel, located at 2004 E. U.S. Highway 90, at approximately 7:20 p.m. on May 18 following a reported aggravated assault involving a barricaded suspect.
During the investigation, officers determined that the suspect had allegedly produced a firearm and threatened the victim inside a hotel room. Authorities said the victim was able to leave the room and report the incident.
According to police, the suspect remained inside the room for a period of time before eventually coming out voluntarily and being taken into custody without further incident.
Officials said the scene has been cleared and there is no active threat to the community. The case remains under investigation, and additional charges are expected.
The Alpine Police Department identified the incident as an aggravated assault involving a barricaded suspect in a press release issued Monday evening.
