Fort Lancaster State Historic Site Seeks Office Manager in Sheffield

The Texas Historical Commission is seeking applicants for a full-time office manager position at Fort Lancaster State Historic Site, a historic landmark in West Texas.

According to a recent announcement from the historic site, the position — listed as Office Manager (Administrative Assistant III / Administrative & Program Support Coordinator) — will support daily operations at the site, including visitor services, procurement and business functions, museum store operations, volunteer coordination, educational programming and public events.

The full-time position is based in Sheffield and is scheduled for 40 hours per week.

Officials said the role will play a key part in supporting site operations and public engagement at one of the state’s historic destinations. The commission is seeking candidates who are organized, motivated and interested in historic preservation, visitor engagement and Texas history.

Fort Lancaster, located along Interstate 10 in Pecos County, preserves the ruins of a former frontier military post established in 1855 to protect travelers along the San Antonio–El Paso Road.
