A Terrell County woman was arrested and charged with a state jail felony after sheriff’s deputies accused her of illegal dumping and said she declined an opportunity to resolve the issue before her arrest.
According to the Terrell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested Cindy Lorranine Busch earlier Saturday in connection with an illegal dumping investigation. Authorities said the charge was elevated to a state jail felony because of the weight of the waste allegedly dumped.
In a statement posted by Terrell County Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland, the sheriff’s office said a deputy previously informed Busch of the alleged violation and gave her an opportunity to correct the issue, but claimed she refused.
“The Terrell County Sheriff’s Office takes illegal dumping seriously and remains committed to keeping our county clean and safe,” the sheriff’s office said in the statement.
No additional details about the location of the alleged dumping, the type of waste involved or the exact amount of material were immediately released. Charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
