The Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrested a man Tuesday afternoon after receiving a report about an unauthorized individual on school property near Dirks-Anderson Elementary School.
According to a statement posted by the sheriff’s office, authorities received a call at approximately 1 p.m. from a concerned parent reporting that an unknown male had been escorted off campus by the school principal. The sheriff’s office said the individual was not authorized to be on school property.
Deputies later made contact with Gerardo Martinez Tercero at an address on State Street in Fort Davis, according to the statement. The sheriff’s office said Martinez displayed “unusual behavior” and appeared unstable during the encounter.
During the investigation, deputies allegedly found Martinez in possession of marijuana. He was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana in a drug-free zone and transported to the Hudspeth County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office.
No additional details about the incident or the quantity of marijuana allegedly recovered were immediately released.
