Alpine ISD honors school health staff during National Nurses Day

Alpine ISD recognized District Nurse Gayla Owen and Nurse’s Aide Dominique Portillo during National Nurses Day celebrations this week, thanking the pair for their work supporting student health and safety across the district.

In a social media post Thursday, the district praised Owen and Portillo for their professionalism and dedication to caring for students each day.

“From band-aids to bigger moments, they handle it all with professionalism and heart,” the district wrote.

The post highlighted the role school health staff play in maintaining student wellness, responding to medical needs and helping create a safe learning environment on campuses throughout Alpine ISD.

Alpine ISD also thanked both employees for their commitment to students and families as part of the nationwide observance recognizing nurses and healthcare workers.
