Landowners in Terrell, Val Verde counties to meet in Sanderson over border wall concerns

Landowners in Terrell and Val Verde counties are scheduled to gather Monday in Sanderson for a coalition meeting focused on issues related to the proposed border wall and property rights along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The meeting will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. May 4 at Ferguson Motors, 111 W. Oak St., according to organizers. The event is being promoted by a group advocating for landowners in the Big Bend region.

Organizers say the meeting is intended to help landowners better understand their rights, share information with neighbors and learn about opportunities for free or pro bono legal representation tied to border wall development.

The group also plans to provide access to resources and ongoing updates through a landowner coalition, with an option to join via an online form. A livestream of the meeting is expected to be available for those unable to attend in person, organizers said.

The gathering comes as discussions around border infrastructure continue to raise questions among property owners in remote areas of West Texas, where private land intersects with federal enforcement priorities.
