Presidio seeks applicants for vacant city council seats after candidate shortfall

City officials in Presidio are inviting residents to apply for appointment to two vacant city council seats after an insufficient number of candidates filed to run in the May election.

According to a public notice shared by Presidio News, the city is asking interested citizens to submit a brief letter of interest if they wish to be considered for appointment to the council.

The vacancies follow a lack of candidates during the recent election cycle, leaving two positions unfilled. City leaders are now turning to community members to step forward and participate in local government.

Applicants must submit their letters by May 1, 2026, the stated deadline for consideration.

Officials encouraged residents to “step up” and take an active role in shaping the city’s future, emphasizing the importance of civic participation in maintaining effective local governance.

It was not immediately clear when appointments would be made or how long the selected candidates would serve.
