Big Bend Health to host medication take-back event in Presidio on April 25

Residents are encouraged to safely dispose of unused or expired medications during a community drug take-back event scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Big Bend Health in Presidio.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 602 W. Reilly St. and is aimed at reducing the risk of accidental poisoning, misuse and environmental contamination caused by improper disposal of medications.

Organizers are urging community members to bring prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications and other unused pharmaceuticals for safe handling and disposal. The initiative is supported by the West Texas Poison Center, which also reminds the public that help is available 24/7 through its Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222.

Officials say proper medication disposal is a key step in preventing drug misuse and protecting public health, particularly in rural communities where access to disposal services may be limited.
