Earth Day celebration, bike rodeo set April 27 at Presidio Activity Center

An Earth Day celebration featuring a bike rodeo and safety activities for children will take place Monday, April 27, at the Presidio Activity Center.

The free event is scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the PAC, located at 1200 E. O’Reilly St., and is hosted by the Texas Department of Transportation and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Organizers say the event will include a bicycle safety course for children of all ages, along with a bike check and repair station to ensure equipment is in working order. A helmet giveaway and a bike raffle are also planned.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own bicycles and helmets to participate in the activities.

In addition to the safety-focused programming, the event will offer hot dogs, popcorn, drinks and other activities for families.

The celebration is part of local efforts to promote outdoor activity, safe cycling practices and environmental awareness in recognition of Earth Day.
