The Borderlands Research Institute will host its second “Science on Tap” event Friday, April 24, bringing local researchers to The Ritchey for an evening of informal presentations and community discussion.
The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and invites attendees to “grab a drink and celebrate shared curiosity,” according to organizers. The format is designed to make scientific research accessible, with speakers sharing their work without technical jargon.
Three presentations are planned:
- “Searching Secrets of the Bones through Zoo-Archaeology” by Bailey Larremore
- “From Bison to Birds: Ecosystem Restoration in the Anthropocene” by Alejandro Chávez Treviño, Ph.D.
- “The West Texas Problem Child: A Growing Threat for Native Species” by Andrew Dotray
Organizers said the topics reflect a range of research underway in the region, from archaeological analysis to ecological restoration and invasive species management.
Following the presentations, a short trivia competition will be held.
The event is open to the public and aims to create a casual setting where community members can engage directly with scientists and learn more about ongoing research in West Texas.
