Ojinaga begins Cuesta Azul paving project; road to close about 45 days

Work has begun on the long-anticipated paving project for Cuesta Azul, a roadway leading toward Almagre, city officials announced this week.

The project officially started Monday, April 13, under the administration of Mayor Lucy Marrufo, who said the effort fulfills a long-standing request from the community.

Officials described the project as an example of collaboration between residents and local government, noting that neighbors and road users contributed support to make the work possible.

Several community members were recognized for their involvement, including Luis Carrasco, Ramón Baeza, Bencho, Longino Ramos, David Muñiz, Chava Franco, Manolo and Pepo, José Manuel and Raúl Baeza, and Abelardo and Ildefonso Baeza.

Authorities said the road will remain closed for approximately 45 days while construction is underway. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes during that time.

City officials thanked residents for their patience and cooperation as the project moves forward.
