Big Bend Sector Chief Patrol Agent Lloyd Easterling retired March 31 following a planned departure, U.S. Border Patrol officials said.
Easterling recently met with local elected officials to discuss border wall plans and indicated that no steel barrier would be constructed within Big Bend Ranch State Park.
In a statement, the agency said Easterling’s retirement ceremony was held at sector headquarters in Marfa and thanked him for his service.
