Wildlife Management Closure Set for Big Bend Ranch State Park Interior

The interior of Big Bend Ranch State Park will be temporarily closed for wildlife management activities beginning March 31, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife officials.

The closure will take effect at 5 p.m. March 31 and remain in place until 8 a.m. April 9, 2026. The affected area includes the park’s interior region, outlined by officials on a public map.

During the closure period, several roads and trails will be inaccessible, including Main Park Road, all interior trails, Las Burras Loop, East and West Rancherias, and East and West Contrabando.

Officials said the temporary closure is part of routine wildlife management efforts aimed at maintaining healthy populations and habitat conditions within the park.

Several areas will remain open to visitors, including FM 170 (River Road), Closed Canyon, the Hoodoos, Contrabando day-use area, campsites along the Rio Grande, and river access points such as boat ramps.

Visitors are encouraged to plan accordingly and check for updates before traveling to the park.
