Fort Stockton High School is inviting students, staff, families and community members to gather Wednesday for a live-stream watch party of NASA’s Artemis II mission, marking a major step in the effort to return humans to the Moon.
The event will be held in the Fort Stockton High School auditorium, with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. The launch is scheduled for 5:24 p.m.
Organizers say the watch party is an opportunity for the community to take part in a historic moment in space exploration as NASA advances its Artemis program, which aims to send astronauts back to the Moon and eventually on to Mars.
School officials encouraged attendees to join in witnessing the launch together and celebrating the milestone.
Artemis II is expected to be NASA’s first crewed mission of the Artemis program, building on earlier test flights and laying the groundwork for future lunar landings.
