Agents with the U.S. Border Patrol Big Bend Sector arrested two suspected human smugglers with prior criminal histories, according to a recent agency statement.
Officials said agents assigned to the Marfa Station uncovered the suspects while they were attempting to transport an undocumented migrant. Both individuals were taken into custody.
Authorities reported that the suspects have previous charges that include offenses such as theft, assault causing bodily injury, engaging in organized criminal activity, drug possession and unlawful possession of a firearm.
No additional details about the incident, including the identities of those arrested or the migrant involved, were immediately released. The case remains under investigation.
