Marathon B&B hosts St. Patrick’s Day gathering with music, food and activism

A local bed-and-breakfast in Marathon is inviting residents and visitors to gather Sunday for a St. Patrick’s Day celebration that blends Irish-themed festivities with community activism.

Eve’s Garden Bed and Breakfast will host the event beginning at noon Sunday, March 15, featuring live music, traditional holiday fare and an opportunity for attendees to write letters to elected officials.

According to the announcement, musician Patrick O’Mealy Sammons will perform live during the event, which also coincides with his birthday. Organizers say food will include corned beef and cabbage along with other “traditional” Irish-inspired snacks and green-themed cocktails.

Stationery and envelopes will be provided for guests who wish to write letters to their representatives regarding regional issues, including opposition to the proposed border wall in the Big Bend region, highlighted by the hashtag #NoBigBendWall.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish or item to share if possible.

The gathering will take place at Eve’s Garden Bed and Breakfast, located at 200 NW Third St. in Marathon. Organizers describe the event as an informal community get-together combining music, food and civic engagement.
