The Marfa Public Library has unveiled a new interactive mural at its Book Barn, marking the completion of a community-driven project more than three years in the making.
The colorful mural invites visitors of all ages to play, explore and create their own stories using movable magnets placed across the artwork. Library organizers say the goal is to make the space both creative and welcoming for the community.
The project was brought to life through the efforts of several local artists, volunteers and supporters. Organizers credited Prism Vision for the original concept and logo design, while artist Katie Laurel Inglis led the design and painting of the mural. Ross Cashiola helped prepare and prime the space before the artwork was installed.
City leaders also played a role in supporting the project. Mayor Manuel Baeza and the Marfa City Council backed the effort, while local businesses Printco and Marfa Hardware Company provided assistance during the installation.
Additional funding and support came from the Catherine Dumraese Trust and the Friends of the Marfa Public Library.
Library officials said proceeds from Book Barn book sales go directly back into expanding the library’s collection and funding community programming.
Visitors are encouraged to stop by the mural, rearrange the magnets to create their own scenes and share photos of their creations with the library.
