U.S. Border Patrol agents working with the Ector County Sheriff’s Office have apprehended a man authorities describe as a previously deported human smuggler with alleged ties to a Mexican criminal organization, according to a social media announcement from the Border Patrol’s Big Bend Sector.
Officials said the arrest involved an individual identified by agents as a member of the La Línea cartel, a criminal group historically associated with drug trafficking and smuggling operations along the U.S.–Mexico border. The announcement also stated the suspect had previously been deported from the United States.
The operation reflects ongoing coordination between federal immigration authorities and local law enforcement agencies in West Texas, where multi-agency partnerships are frequently used to target human smuggling networks operating across rural highways and border corridors.
Authorities did not release additional identifying details about the suspect in the public post, and formal charges were not specified in the announcement. Information about where the apprehension occurred within the region also was not immediately available.
Border Patrol officials emphasized that cooperation between agencies remains a key strategy in disrupting transnational criminal activity and preventing human smuggling operations.
The Big Bend Sector covers a large portion of remote West Texas, including areas near Van Horn, Alpine, Marfa and Presidio, where agents patrol both urban corridors and vast rural terrain.

GREAT WORK!!
