Culberson County Junior Livestock Show Set for January 16–17 in Van Horn

The Culberson County Junior Livestock Association has announced details for its 2026 Junior Livestock Show, scheduled for January 16–17 in Van Horn.

The annual event will showcase the work of local 4-H and youth exhibitors and includes multiple competitions, awards, and a community auction.

Activities begin Friday, January 16, with a Rabbit and Poultry Show at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, January 17, judging begins at 9 a.m. with the Goat, Lamb, Pig, Steer, and Little Britches shows. The event concludes Saturday evening with a BBQ, awards ceremony, and auction at 6 p.m., followed by a dance.

Additional judging events are scheduled ahead of the show, including Consumer Science, Ag Mechanics, and Food Science judging on January 10.

The association also outlined participation requirements, including enrollment in Culberson County 4-H, participation in barn cleanup and setup days, and adherence to animal residency deadlines, which vary by species. Animal housing contracts are available for exhibitors needing space at the show barn.

The Culberson County Junior Livestock Show is a long-standing tradition in the community, highlighting youth responsibility, agricultural education, and local support for student exhibitors.
