The U.S. Border Patrol’s Big Bend Sector has announced the graduation of its newest group of K9 handlers, adding several highly trained teams to its ranks.
According to the agency, the newly certified handlers and their canine partners are prepared to assist with detection, protection, and field operations across the sector. Officials noted that K9 units play a critical role in daily enforcement efforts and are considered an essential part of community safety.
A graduation ceremony was held with representatives standing before flags from the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the Big Bend Sector.
The K9 teams will now be deployed throughout the region to support patrol duties and specialized missions.
