Author Hank Ewert to Present Let the Music Speak at Jeff Davis County Library

Music historian and author Hank Ewert will visit the Jeff Davis County Library on Thursday, November 20, 2025, for an evening program centered on his latest book, Let the Music Speak: Tracking the Sounds That Changed Everything, 1945–1950.

Doors will open at 5 p.m., with Ewert’s presentation beginning at 5:30 p.m. The event is free to the public and sponsored by the Friends of the Jeff Davis County Library.

Ewert’s book explores a transformative period in American music, highlighting influential artists such as Julia Lee, Wynonie Harris, Hank Williams, Charlie Parker, and Miles Davis. Through extensive research and vivid storytelling, he examines how postwar musical innovations reshaped genres and laid the groundwork for modern popular music.
