The National Weather Service has issued a freeze watch for the Chinati Mountains, Davis Mountains, and Marfa Plateau, remaining in effect from late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.
According to the Presidio County Sheriff’s Office, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 25 degrees are possible. The agency warned that frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, harm sensitive vegetation, and potentially damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Residents are urged to take precautions to protect plants and pets. “Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold,” the advisory stated. “Bring pets indoors, or ensure that they have warm, dry shelter.”
The freeze watch was issued at 9:26 a.m. Oct. 28, 2025.
