Sul Ross faculty member Robin Alvarez releases new novel Paramour

Sul Ross State University is celebrating the release of Paramour, a new novel by Language and Literature faculty member Robin Alvarez, published Sept. 9.

Alvarez, who joined the university’s faculty this year, has already drawn national recognition with the book. Kirkus Reviews awarded the novel its “Get it” verdict and will spotlight it in the October edition of Kirkus Reviews Magazine.

Sunday Times bestselling author A.Y. Chao, author of Shanghai Immortal, praised Paramour as a blend of urban fantasy influences and a “bittersweet tale of grief, loss, redemption, and the enduring power of love.” Marketed as “Twilight with banshees,” the book follows Sadie, a banshee navigating loss and danger while protecting those closest to her.

As part of the launch, Alvarez will appear Sept. 12 at the Forever Twilight in Forks Festival in Washington state, an annual celebration of the Twilight series’ anniversary. She is also scheduled to appear at Romantasy BookCon in Los Angeles in February and the Imaginarium Book Festival in Washington, D.C. in June.

Alvarez has authored other works, including the #1 new release When Oceans Rise and served as editor of Monsters in Masquerade, an OwlCrate anthology. She lives in West Texas with her family and balances teaching, writing and family life.
