Alpine will host a special early screening of The Senior tonight, Monday, Sept. 8, at 8:30 p.m. at Jackson Field. Gates open at 8 p.m., and guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets for the outdoor showing.
The film tells the remarkable true story of Mike Flynt, a former Sul Ross State University football player who made headlines in 2007 when, at age 59, he returned to the field to finish his final year of NCAA eligibility.
Starring Michael Chiklis and Mary Stuart Masterson, the movie has already earned strong reviews, with The Hollywood Reporter calling it a “crowd-pleaser.” Directed by Rod Lurie and produced by Mark Ciardi, the sports drama blends football action with themes of perseverance and family.
Snacks and drinks will be available courtesy of Skelton’s Runway, and the screening offers the Sul Ross community and West Texans a chance to celebrate one of their own before the film’s nationwide release on Sept. 19.
