City of Alpine Urges Residents to Stop Illegal Dumping

The City of Alpine is reminding residents that illegal dumping is not only against the law but also a serious threat to community health and safety.

When trash is discarded improperly—such as appliances, yard waste, or construction debris—it often attracts rodents, insects, and mosquitoes that carry diseases. Piles of waste can also contain sharp objects or hazardous materials, posing direct risks of injury. Beyond health hazards, illegal dumping creates unsightly and unsanitary conditions, reducing quality of life for neighbors and visitors alike.

To help residents dispose of bulk items properly, Alpine offers a monthly Bulk Pick-up service for sanitation account holders. Accepted items include:

  • Yard waste (bagged weeds, pine needles, etc.)
  • Tree limbs (must be bundled in 4-foot sections)
  • Large appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners (with refrigerant removed by a certified technician).

In addition, residents with a sanitation account and permit can take eligible items directly to the Hal Flanders Recycling Center.

The City urges residents: “Do not put your community at risk. Protect your neighbors by disposing of waste responsibly.”
