Deputies Honored at June Big Bend Law Enforcement Association Meeting

The Big Bend Area Law Enforcement Officers Association (BBALEOA) held its monthly meeting June 11 at the Pecos County Civic Center, hosted by Sheriff T.J. Perkins and the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office.

Assistant District Attorney Christiana Valadez served as guest speaker, emphasizing interagency cooperation. Several Pecos County deputies were recognized for their actions in an officer-involved shooting: Deputy Chelsey Rose received the BBALEOA Purple Award for injuries sustained in the line of duty; Deputies Kevin Rose and Andres Gonzales received Distinguished Service Awards; and Deputy Pete Galvan was presented the Valor Award.

The meeting also included updates on training events, scholarships, and the upcoming 2026 training conference in Odessa. Law enforcement officials from multiple West Texas counties and agencies attended.

The next BBALEOA meeting is scheduled for July 9 at 7 p.m. at the Marathon Community Center.
