Ojinaga Police Arrest Man for Uprooting Tree from Town Square

A man was arrested Thursday morning after municipal police caught him behaving inappropriately in public and later confirmed he had uprooted an ornamental tree from the town square without permission.

According to a press release from the Ojinaga Municipal Public Safety Department, the incident occurred on May 8, 2025, at approximately 8:40 a.m. during routine patrols in Sector 1. Officers approached a man who was exhibiting disruptive behavior and consuming illegal substances—both violations of local public order regulations.

Upon detaining the individual, officers noted he matched the description of a person reported by residents for damaging public property. In an interview with authorities, the suspect admitted to removing the ornamental tree without authorization.

The man was taken into custody and turned over to the municipal magistrate for administrative offenses.
