Sexual Predator Reported in Fort Davis — County Officials Refuse to Respond

Is there a sexual predator roaming free in Jeff Davis County?
We have no idea — and that’s exactly the problem.

Big Bend Times received a disturbing tip from a citizen:
The individual reported that a known serial sexual predator allegedly threatened to expose himself in public at the Lowe’s Market parking lot in Fort Davis.
They claimed to have photos, video, time stamps, and location evidence, and said they called 911 — only to be told law enforcement would “get to it when everything opens back up.”

Important note:

  • We are not confirming this incident occurred.
  • We are not confirming any crime took place.
  • We are not accusing any individual of any crime.

What we are reporting is this:
Big Bend Times immediately forwarded the tip to Sheriff Victor Lopez, County Attorney Glen Eisen, and County Judge Curtis Evans, asking for clarification and an official response.

In our inquiry, we wrote:

“Given the serious nature of this report, I am requesting clarification and an official response from the County:

  • Was a report of this incident made to 911 or any other county law enforcement agency?
  • If so, what action has been taken to investigate and ensure public safety?
  • Is there an active investigation into the alleged public threat?
  • Is the Sheriff’s Office treating this report as a priority public safety issue? If not, why not?”

We made it clear in our message:

“Given the potential public safety concerns raised by this tip, I request a prompt and substantive reply.”

We sent this inquiry twice.
We received no response.

When public officials ignore direct questions about citizen safety, they aren’t just dismissing the press — they’re dismissing the community.

Because Sheriff Lopez, the County Attorney, and the County Judge refused to answer, we are making the public aware:

  • A citizen has alleged a serious public safety threat at a well-trafficked public location.
  • Law enforcement was reportedly contacted through 911.
  • Jeff Davis County officials have refused to confirm, deny, or comment on the situation.

We are urging residents to remain alert.
If you observe suspicious behavior, report it immediately.
If you have information about this alleged incident, please contact Big Bend Times.

We will update this story immediately if officials finally provide a response or if new information emerges.
