As part of National Student Employment Week (April 14–18), Sul Ross State University is recognizing the vital contributions of its student workers, starting with a spotlight on the Resident Assistants and Maintenance Assistants in Residential Living.
Resident Assistants (RAs) at Sul Ross serve as first responders, peer mentors, and community builders. Living among the students they support, RAs are often the first to address concerns—whether personal, academic, or related to housing. They maintain a 24/7, 365-day duty rotation, offering around-the-clock assistance to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of residential students.
“These student leaders provide not just logistical support, but emotional support as well,” the university shared. “They are a dedicated group who help create a sense of comfort and belonging during challenging moments.”
The weeklong celebration is hosted in collaboration with Financial Aid and Sul Ross Career Services & Testing, with different groups of student employees highlighted daily.

Their dedication often goes unseen, but their impact on campus life is lasting.
