The City of Alpine’s Pueblo Nuevo Park officially opened this week, marking the completion of a major redevelopment project aimed at enhancing public recreation in Brewster County.
Located at 1500 East Gallego Street, the 1.77-acre park now features a range of new amenities, including a 6-foot-wide concrete walking path, a modern playground with swings, outdoor fitness equipment, a basketball half-court, and a 40-by-40-foot covered pavilion designed to host community events. The park also includes an ADA-compliant PortaPotty and other accessibility upgrades.
The $430,000 project was funded in part by a $217,591 grant from the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Land Water Conservation Fund, administered by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. The City of Alpine matched the grant, bringing total investment in the park to $435,182.
Covering over 77,000 square feet, the newly opened park is intended to serve as a vibrant, multi-use space for residents of all ages. Its completion represents a key step in the city’s broader efforts to expand recreational opportunities and improve quality of life for the local community.
