CDRI to Host Roadside Cleanup Event on April 17

The Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute (CDRI) is inviting volunteers to join an Adopt-A-Highway roadside cleanup on Thursday, April 17, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Powell Visitor Center.

Volunteers will help clean a two-mile stretch of State Highway 118 in front of the CDRI gates, located about four miles southeast of Fort Davis. Participants will be split into teams to collect trash along the roadside.

CDRI will provide safety vests, trash bags, long-handled grabbers, bottled water, snacks, and a lighthearted atmosphere. Volunteers are encouraged to wear layered clothing, closed-toed shoes, a hat, and bring their own work gloves.

The cleanup is part of CDRI’s commitment to its Adopt-A-Highway contract with the Texas Department of Transportation. Anyone interested in helping is encouraged to email events@cdri.org.
