The Chinati Foundation in Marfa is now accepting applications for its 2026 Artist in Residence Program. The program hosts four to six artists each year for two-month residencies, offering dedicated time and space to create new work in the unique setting of Far West Texas.
Resident artists receive a $4,000 stipend to support honorarium, travel, and materials. Housing is provided on the museum grounds, along with a studio in downtown Marfa and access to Chinati’s collection and archive.
The open call is available to visual, sound, dance, performance, and video artists. Application materials must be submitted by email to airapp@chinati.org by April 30, 2025. Required materials include images or media files of work, a biography, artist statement, image captions, and a CV. Artists selected for the 2026 program will be notified in August 2025.
