The Smoke in the Mountains BBQ & Ribeye Shootout celebrated a major milestone this week, placing 4th in the Champions Barbecue Alliance (CBA) Event of the Year awards banquet. The recognition is a remarkable achievement for the event, which is only in its second year and hosted in a remote location deep in the mountains of West Texas.
“What a huge accomplishment for a small, team-capped competition 100 miles from nowhere,” said event organizer Jennifer Probst-Webster. “Being loved by so many of our BBQ friends means the world to me!”
The Smoke in the Mountains BBQ & Ribeye Shootout has quickly become a standout in the competitive barbecue scene, thanks to the dedication of its board members, sponsors, and volunteers. The event’s unique charm and strong community support have helped it shine among larger, more established competitions.
Looking Ahead to Year Three
Probst-Webster announced that the third annual competition is set for June 6-7, with registration opening February 2 on the event’s newly launched website. The organizers are already planning to make next year’s event even better, building on the momentum from this recognition.
